The Hebrew Name of God

Disclaimer

Due to the many opinions in the usage of the Hebrew Name of God and as you can see from the below lists there are at least sixty four (64) different names that are in usage today. Seed of Abraham Apostolic Fellowship believes the correct rendering of the Hebrew Name of God is YAHUAH & YAHUSHA we also know that many people have many different interpretations and therefore we believe that the most important thing is the meaning of the Name and not the correct spelling and pronunciation which causes so much division and strife among honest and sincere believers.

Most if not all Sacred Name believers are not Hebrew and do not know or speak the original Paleo Hebrew and therefore are only able to give their opinion on this subject as the knowledge comes available. However no one knows for sure one hundred percent the absolute and correct spelling of the Sacred Name of God.

We at Seed of Abraham Apostolic Fellowship believe that the most important thing is the meaning of the Name and not the correct spelling and pronunciation. For Example the Tetragrammaton YHUH, YHWH, YHVH, JHVH has the following meaning:

YHUH/YHWH in Pictorial Paleo Hebrew

YHUH/YHWH in Paleo Hebrew

YHUH/YHWH in Modern Hebrew

Hand Behold Nail Behold

The Tetragrammaton, which is the four letter representation of the revealed name of God in Hebrew, was first written in an ancient form of Hebrew now referred to as Paleo Hebrew.

Paleo Hebrew, like other ancient written forms, is pictorial in nature.

This provides a meaning for words which is built up from pictorial symbols, which when combined express both a complete word and a combination of meanings.

The combined word for the Tetragrammaton – YHUH – is often translated into English as “I Am who I Am” and expresses the eternal presence and identity of God, as well as other deep concepts as to His self-revealing nature.

When taken as individual Paleo Hebrew symbols however you get the following four representations:

  • Hand (Yud)
  • Behold (Hay)
  • Nail (Uah)
  • Behold (Hay)

What is the significance of this?

When Yahusha/Jesus confronts Thomas after His resurrection He says these words to Him:

“Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” John 20:27

What is Thomas’ response in John 20:28?

“Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!””

This is an amazing revelation given to Thomas that Jesus is the I Am – YHUH Himself – and the root written form of this, before crucifixion with nails was invented and before Jesus was born, was…........

Hand Behold Nail Behold

John 20:24-28, 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” 26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

YHUH (YaHUaH)

YHUH (YaHUaH) - the meaning of the Paleo Hebrew symbols for the "Tetragrammaton", the revealed name of God. Hand, Behold, Nail, Behold remarkable when you consider Thomas' response to Jesus' invitation post-resurrection!
